The red cleats of the tread enable the wearer to monitor the wearing level of the outsole (according to the European Standard EN 15090 Annex C). Self-cleaning and foreign objects + debris free granted by the peculiar structure of cleats and running surface. The high energy absorption in the heel area is given by the rubber compound of the outsole, by the height and shape of its cleats. |toe cap||New aluminum 200J safety toecap, very light. Asymmetric with supporting base, manufactured and tested according to the Standard EN 12568:2010. It is positioned between the leather upper and the lining and cannot be removed without damaging the whole boot. A plastic soft padding on the upper edge of the cap protects the feet while flexing.|

The rear padded flexors, those of the centralfront area and inner tongue, allow a correct flexion of the foot in the correct areas, therefore it enables a wide range of movements, especially when walking on scope, going up or downstairs, dirving trucks.

The new elasticated system is designed to allow a volume adjustment inside the foot area which creates a much improved fit for both feet, and reduces the need for special measures. The system is specially suitable for female firefighters. When selecting the size, we recommend to always verify the suitability of the footwear with a trial fit. The footwear will only meet safety requirements when worn properly.
In order to reach the highest level of SRC (slip resistance), Jolly developed for its Fire and S&R collections a new outsole, shaped on the new J-Morphic last The outline of our new J-Morphic last, much more “rounded”, wants to be a valid alternative to traditional “flat” outsole/last systems that use metallic antiperforation insoles.
The advantages are:
- the profile is more modern, with a wider toe box so that your toes are not cramped together.
- the rounded heel eases the footing during the roll-over phase, avoiding a sharp edge annoyance; it also ensures higher levels of slip resistance.
- a better feet roll-over motion that allows the shoes to perform the 90% of each step without bending the outsole, the creasing stress on its bonding and preventing upper’s wrinkles that can cause pressure points on the foot. The walk will be more comfortable, the foot less stressed and the muscles more relaxed.
- the energy absorption level is given by the rubber compound of the outsole, by the height and shape of its cleats and inner net, by the composite material of the antiperforation insole, and most of all by our J-Morphic last: so that, in order to give our excellence lightness and energy absorption results, Jolly shoes don’t need PU hidden midsoles or inserts that can melt at 130° and make the boot collapse internally.
The absorption level of energy is established by:
- the thickness and composition of the outsole
- the height and the shape of the heel and inner net which also causes a decrease weight and the presence of an air pad for a better heat isolation,
- the composite material of the anti-perforation midsole
- the presence of antishock PU or EVA inserts
- our specific shape.
INNER AIR FLOW
The EN 15090 Standard clearly states that in fire-fighters footwear the upper is the full height of the boot, therefore all tests (tear strength, radiant heat and flame resistance, water pnetration and absorsion) must be performed over the entire upper.
So what about aeration systems with holes over the upper? What about the radiant heat and flame resistance tests through the holes?
Jolly footwear for fire-fighters are designed to offer the highest protection, that is why with our new aeration system the air between the upper and the GORE-TEX® lining is allowed to easily and naturally flow in and out through the air mesh of the inner collar, each step.
Impermeability and breathability allow an increased climate comfort, an essential element for the appropriate performance of the operators within their activities. The new edition of the standard EN ISO 20344:2011 has introduced a dynamic test method for the water resistance of the entire footwear, the so called “flex test”, with a minimum requirement of 4800 flexes. Jolly footwear exceed 300.000 flexes as provided by the Gore Standard, and the top range models can reach even 500.000 flexes!!

JAS JOLLY ANTI-PERFORATION SYSTEM
Jolly Scarpe uses penetration-resistant insoles made by a multilayer construction applying special antiperforation composite textile material “Zero Perforation mm” according to the standard EN 12568:2010. Textile antiperforation insoles compared to the old style metal plates, offer considerable ergonomics and safety advantages: more protective surface, flexibility, insulation, moisture absorption, reduced weight.
Many shoes among our collection have an ankle protection insert. We inserted a rigid ankle protection in order to support the ankle in a suitable way and thus restricting the risk of distortions in combination with specific shock absorbing material so to dissipate and reduce the force generated by dangerous impacts.
High level of heat insulation: all Jolly footwear belonging to the FIRE and SEARCH & RESCUE collections reach the HI³ level with values that exceed of medium 30% the minimum standard EN15090:2012 requirements. The radiant heat insulation exceeds of medium 70% the minimum requirements of EN15090:2012.

With this aluminium alloy toe cap, Jolly Scarpe introduces a new technology into its safety footwear. The unique and exclusive features of this toe cap are: weight 40% lighter than steel, notch toughness stable up to -50°, high resistance to oxidation, anallergic, not polluting.
